Staff Sgt Sicknick lost his life on January 7, 2021, at a young age of 42, following a riot at the United states Capitol. He worked for the US Capitol Police after being honorably discharged from the service as a Staff Sgt in 2003.
Sicknick joined the New Jersey Air National Guard in 1997. He served on the 108th Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst as a fire team member and leader with the security force squadron. In 1999 he was deployed to Saudi Arabia to support Operation Southern Watch and to Kyrgyzstan to support Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003. He joined the US Capitol Police in July 2008.
In 2013 he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He was an outspoken Trump supporter in 2016.
On Jan 6 Sicknick was a member of the first responder unit during the riot at the Capitol. It's said he was sprayed with Bear Spray or Mace which caused him to later have a stroke and a blood clot, which put him on a ventilator to fight for his life. Sadly Jan 7, Sicknick passed away.
Staff Sgt's cremated remains now lays in the Capitol Rotunda and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. I pray God watches over his family and friends.
